There are original Victorian woodland walks which may be enjoyed by visitors (children and dogs!) which are stunning particularly in May when the bluebells are at their finest. We also provide rustic seating at strategic points.

Three Victorian ponds lie within the grounds. The purpose of two of the ponds is unclear with experts from the gardening world and archeology debating their history. The largest pond is about 26' in diameter.

Interestingly, we have one of the largest pet cemeteries in Cumbria, with twenty seven inscribed headstones dating from the year the house was built (1876).

A lavender courtyard has been established, with its own bee hive. Beware!

The daffodil paddock is at its best in April. Work is in progress at this time to enhance the area to its full potential.

There are formal lawns and grassed banks on which art work is displayed. Herbaceous borders display brilliant colours during the summer. Formal areas are being extended.

There is ample free parking either by the main house or on the "croquet lawn" by the main entrance. Nearby can be found the picnic area.
