1st March 2009 - Welcome!

We are opening for our third year on the 20th of this month, but we have changed our opening times from 10am - 4pm to 11pm - 5pm. Quite a number of people visit us late in the afternoon and this change is to accommodate their needs. Visit numbers increased last year despite the weather and if the number of "Bunny Run" prizes out given out was anything to go by, child numbers increased four fold. Our charges remain the same as last year.

We will be open to the National Heritage Scheme in September for two days when areas of the gardens not presently open to the public will be available to visit with a guide.

There will also be a Rotary International charity event on the 20th of June 2009 with cream teas, a local brass band, stalls and of course the garden and gallery. Price for entry will be £2.50 but there will be an extra charge for refreshments.

For those who wish to visit us during the heritage open days, efforts have been made in the last couple of weeks to repair the leaking large pond. The six frog residents were not happy to have had to move house but were successfully re-homed with their frogspawn. A considerable amount of research was conducted regarding the use of the dove cote and methods of culling and cooking of the birds. An extra element of the viewing will be the pet cemetery with inscribed headstones. There will be a small quiz for children on what they have seen.
